This is how Luis Enrique's legs looked after finishing the Cape Epic

Former Spanish coach Luis Enrique Martínez achieved another great milestone this Sunday in another of his great passions, cycling. After an intense preparation that began last December after the end of his time as Spain coach, ‘Lucho’ can now boast of his third medal as a ‘finisher’ in the Absa Cape Epic, the toughest Mountain Bike event in the world.

A Cape Epic that has required Luis Enrique to perform at the highest level on the roads and mountains of South Africa and that has also meant a great physical effort, as ‘Lucho’ himself showed through his social networks with the veins marked on his legs after the prologue and the eight stages of the test. “This is how your legs look after 8 days of BTT, 658 kilometers and 15,500 meters of positive elevation gain”

A ‘finisher’ medal that Luis Enrique got filming in the company of Tomás Latorre and that he wanted to share with his followers on his Instagram account. “This one is no longer taken from me by anyone! Very happy!”

This is the third time that Luis Enrique has completed the Absa Cape Epic after doing it in 2013 together with Juan Carlos Unzuéto whom he has dedicated this new adventure in South Africa while fighting ALS, and in 2018, when he also completed the tour together with Tomás Latorre.

Luis Enrique and Tomás Latorre finished 38th in the Grand Masters category and 316th in the overall ranking with a time of 45:17:32.3 in the Unzué 1 team. The adventure also ended with the Unzué 3, made up of Carlos Benítez and Óscar Monteverde, who finished 100th in the Masters category and 315th overall with a time of 45:17:31.5.

Tomi Misser, the Spanish champion of the Cape Epic

The Cape Epic also left us a Spanish champion, Tomi Misser from the Balearic Islands, who together with the German Karl Platt won the Master category with a time of 30:10:39 to finish in twenty-sixth place in the absolute classification.
