Third accident in a month, now Australian player falls victim to an accident

The biggest festival of cricket fans, the IPL, is just around the corner. But before the start of this biggest cricket league in the world, many players suffer injuries. Last month, three players had traffic accidents. Firstly, young Indian player Robin Minz, who was bought from Gujarat Titans at a high price, was injured in a bicycle accident. Then Lahiru Thirimane from Sri Lanka was the victim of a traffic accident and now Cameron Bancroft from Australia was seriously injured in a bicycle accident.

Cameron Bancroft suffered a serious injury in the accident, meaning he will no longer be able to take part in the Marsh Sheffield Shield final against Tasmania at the WACA Grounds in Perth from Thursday. He had an accident while cycling on Sunday. According to website cricket.com.au, Bancroft’s departure is a major blow to Western Australia’s hat-trick of Shield titles.

Bancroft has been the highest scoring batsman in the competition over the past five seasons with 3,061 runs at an average of 42.51 and finished the 2023–24 season as the Shield’s second highest run scorer. After scoring 778 runs at an average of 48.62, he fell behind Tasmania’s Beau Webster. The right-handed batsman played a key role in taking the two-time champions to the decider by scoring 58 runs in the second innings against Victoria on the bowler-friendly oval surface, where only two other batsmen reached 50 runs in the game.

Bancroft’s opening partnership with captain Sam Whiteman was a key factor in the state reaching the final for the third consecutive year. The pair have established themselves as the only openers in the season’s top 10 run-scorers. Additionally, Bancroft and Whiteman recently surpassed Geoff Marsh and Mike Veletta’s record of 3,470 runs in a partnership for Western Australia by scoring a total of 3,567 runs between them.
