In the last hours, the judiciary convicted two criminals for the theft of video surveillance cameras from the Ministry of the Interior in the Sayago district of Montevideo.

The thieves climbed the pillar holding the cameras, beat them until they were out of commission, and then stole them. It happened on Saturday with Coronel Raíz and Máximo Santos.

Onlookers watched as the criminals broke the devices and sent police to the scene. The thieves were arrested and identified at that time: They are 28 and 35 years old and have a criminal record.

The court classified it as particularly serious theft. One will serve a 12-month prison sentence and the other will be on probation at the same time.
