About 400 infants and about 300 older adults in a state of food vulnerability in the La Zurza neighborhood were benefited by the NuovoPharma Dominicana entity, with the donation of 4,600 servings of a food made from oatmeal cereal and milk proteins.
Present nutritionists explained to the mothers and guardians who accompanied the benefited infants, that these foods are considered meal replacements because they allow efficient replacement of combinations of traditional foods from the basic family basket.
The provisions were received by Germán Herrera, executive director of the Fundación Saneamiento Ambiental y Comunitaria de la Zurza (Funsazurza), from Will Lajara, president of Nuovopharma, in a simple act that was attended by managers from the social and of gender of Public Health, and of Funsazurza.
According to Lajara’s explanations, donation involves compact food solutions that include domestically sourced ingredients and designed for humanitarian food aid campaigns.
Starting from the criterion of coverage of recommended daily intake per batch, he explained that they nutritionally replace complete breakfasts and dinners both in children, as well as in the segments of older adults and pregnant or lactating.
"Through this donation we achieve two objectives: the first is to satisfy our annual corporate social responsibility quota, benefiting residents of a community that is exemplary and meritorious for its efforts to improve its environment, and the second align our technological objectives to the paradigm shift proposed by the National Innovation Policy 2030 recently launched by the government "Will Lajara emphasized.
Meanwhile Germán Herrera, president of Funsazurza, after assessing the initiative, highlighted that the entity, together with neighborhood associations, community organizations, Catholic and evangelical churches, continues to accentuate efforts to materialize the pending progress of the Zurza Comprehensive Development Plan. for the benefit of the entire community.
Annually in the month of June, the company Nuovopharma Dominicana selects a non-profit entity to which it contributes a donation equivalent to a percentage of the values contracted by the State to the company, during the immediately preceding year.
