Nothing is going right for the Pakistan Cricket Board. Due to the team's continued poor performance, a period of change is underway. The head coach of the Pakistan cricket team tendered his resignation on Thursday. After this, another veteran has now left the Pakistan Cricket Board. Ever since the loss in the ODI World Cup, the Pakistan cricket team has been heading towards its downfall. First captain Babar Azam left the captaincy, then many big changes were made in the team but as the team did not benefit from it, now PCB boss Zaka Ashraf has also resigned from his post. This is a big blow to Pakistan cricket. However, PCB has not yet commented on this.

I recently took on the responsibility

Zaka Ashraf replaced Najam Sethi as chairman of the management committee. On July 6, 2023, he became a member of the Board of Governors of the PCB. According to those present at the ongoing committee meeting, he said that he was committed to improving the sport of cricket but it was not possible for us to work like that. He further said that it is now up to the Prime Minister to choose whoever he appoints to replace him. Acting Prime Minister Kakkar had extended the tenure of the Ashraf-led leadership until November 2023.

Poor condition of the Pakistan team

The Pakistan cricket team played two important tournaments during Ashraf's tenure – the Asia Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup – but suffered a crushing defeat in both tournaments. The Pakistan team failed to even reach the final of the Asia Cup, while their team was eliminated in the group stage of the ODI World Cup. After the ODI World Cup, the Pakistan team toured Australia where their team suffered a 0-3 defeat while their team trailed 0-4 in the T20 series being played in New Zealand.
