With the participation of the best 32 chess players from all over the country, the national chess tournament will begin this Friday, March 24 under the organization of the Dominican Chess Federation with the support of the Ministry of Sports.

The details were offered by the president of the Organizing Committee Braulio Ramirez accompanied by the Godmother of Women’s Chess Nelsy Trinidad who informed that the activity is scheduled to start at six in the afternoon in the Pachón Matos Rivera Hall of the Dominican Chess Federation located in the Olympic Center, with the confirmation of the 32 participants, while the ceremony will be on Saturday, March 25 at 10:00 am, beginning with the singing of the national anthem.

Braulio Ramírez highlighted that this national event is the highest female superior event and will serve as a warm-up for the Women’s Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in El Salvador during the month of July of this year on behalf of the Dominican Republic.

The words of welcome at the opening ceremony will fall on Pedro Domínguez Brito, president of the Dominican Chess Federation.

On his side, Garibaldy Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, will make the Olympic exhortation speech.

Likewise, Francisco Camacho, Minister of Sports and Recreation, will give the words of motivation while Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, president of the National Directorate for Drug Control, will give the main speech.

The national event will last until Sunday, April 2 and will take place in eight rounds using the Swiss system at 90 minutes with a 30-second increment, with Wilfredo Paulino from Francomacoris as the main referee, accompanied by assistant referees Nelson Ortiz and Benjamín Henríquez Trinidad.

The games will be broadcast live on the Chess Results platform and Chess.com.
