The two right-backs that Manchester United are pursuing in the summer

Manchester United are taking cautious steps towards a new contract for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and have already started looking for a possible replacement for the right-back, according to a journalist. Wan-Bissaka, who joined the club from Crystal Palace for around £50million in 2019, has had ups and downs in his performance at Old Trafford, leading to some uncertainty over his future.

With just one season left on his contract after the current one, Manchester United appear to be avoiding offering Wan-Bissaka an extension, increasing the chances of a potential summer exit. Should Wan-Bissaka leave the club, Diogo Dalot would be the only remaining natural right-back in the squad, which has led United to explore options in the transfer market.

Frimpong and Dumfries in Manchester United’s sights

According to Rudy Galetti, Manchester United are considering Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries as possible replacements for Wan-Bissaka. Both Dutch players could fit into the club’s future plans like current United coach Erik ten Hag.

Although financial details of potential transfers have not yet been announced, Dumfries could be a more accessible option as his contract at Inter expires at the same time as Wan-Bissaka’s at Manchester United, while Frimpong has an existing contract at Bayer Leverkusen until 2028.

Meanwhile, Manchester United remain focused on strengthening their squad to challenge for league titles and both Frimpong and Dumfries have performed well for their respective clubs in the Bundesliga and Serie A. However, it remains to be seen how they will develop. Situations in the It will be months before United can complete a move for Wan-Bissaka’s potential successor.
