The time has come for Prado in Lugo

The time has come. There are two weeks left for the start of the MXGP World Championship in Argentina (on March 12), but before Jorge Prado has a “very special” commitment, neither more nor less than running for the first time before his audience, in Lugo, the city where he was born but has not yet competed at the highest level of motocross, which is what he will do this Sunday at the circuit that bears his name. It will be in the second round of the Spanish Championship, in which the Spanish from Honda, Rubén Fernández, has also signed up in the premier class of the World Championship.

A date that Prado has been waiting for a long time and that does not arrive as surely as he would like after having missed the appointment at Arco di Trento in Italy last Sunday, the other test prior to the World Cup that he had on his agenda, due to a feverish process that brought him down from the GasGas without remedy, but he will give everything his physique allows him because this race “has sentimental value” for him. “I’m looking forward to enjoying the weekend in Lugo to the fullest”, he says with the utmost enthusiasm before getting on the bike.

The first time he will do so will be on Saturday, in the morning training session (10:50) which will serve to prepare for the afternoon qualifying round (13:25). AND Sunday will be the highlight with the two Elite-MX1 races (11:20 and 14:00) in which Prado, Fernández and the rest of the Nacional riders (there are 32 registered) will participate, such as José Butrón, the leader of the main category. And that won’t be the only action on the track, because two other classes are also competing: Elite-MX2 and MX125.

Guillén, Seisdedos and ‘Dakarian’ visits

In addition to those mentioned, there will be well-known names among the MX Lugo participants, such as Daniela Guillen and Gabriela Seisdedos, members of the women’s motocross team that were crowned European champions by nations and will race in MX2. And in the small category, it stands out Marc Roma Romero, son of Nani Roma and Rosa Romero, who will give a ‘dakarian’ tint to the event together with Sergio Vallejo, the Galician driver who will present himself with the Astara with which he competed in the last Dakar.
