The International Tennis International Hall of Fame announced this Tuesday through its website that, for the first time in its history, no new members will be incorporated into this establishment of Tennis.

Nominees who did not get the required endorsements included Roland Garros winners Ana Ivanovic, Carlos Moya and Juan Carlos Ferrero. Former players Flavia Pennetta, a 2015 US Open winner, Cara Black and Lisa Raymond rounded out the pool of nominees.

These same candidates will be eligible again next year for membership, as Hall of Fame policies they allow them to stay for three years if they are not elected. Ferrero and Raymond will only have that option, as this was their second nomination.

For this to happen, the positive vote of at least 75% of the voting committee will be required. This group is made up of tennis experts, members of the Hall, media correspondents and historians. Also, fans from all over the world of sport can vote, whose points are a bonus that are included in the count but do not guarantee their appointment to occupy a place in said Hall.

This coming July there will be a ceremony to induct Australian Lleyton Hewitt into the Hall of Fame., who due to restrictions due to the pandemic, was unable to attend last year’s event.
