The Swiss Matteo Badilatti (Q36.5 Pro Cycling) had the honor of winning the sixth stage of the Tour of Rwanda alone, considered the queen of this edition, with a total of 3,200 unevenness in the 157 km route between Rubavu and Gicumbi , a day in which the Belgian William Lecerf (Soudal Quick Step) resisted as leader.

Badilatti (Poschiavo, 30 years old), a former Groupama runner, managed to debut his professional record on his own, thanks to an offensive initiative with 19 km to go, on the climb to Puerto de Tetero (6.4 km at 7 percent) that gave him allowed him to raise his arms with a time of 4h.11.05, at an average of 37.5 km/hour.

Special day for the winner’s Swiss team, as his Italian teammate Walter Calzoni qualified second, 10 seconds behind, also celebrating the team’s double. The third place was taken by the South African of the national team Kent Main, closing the positions of honor. The Spanish Víctor de la Parte (Total Energies) qualified eighth, 14 seconds behind the winner, within the main group.

In the general, Lecerf continues to lead, seventh in the stage, with only 2 seconds over the Ukrainian Anatoliy Budyak (Terngganu) and 7 over Calzoni, the same time as Víctor de la Parte, who is fourth.

This Saturday the seventh stage will be held between Nyamata and Mount Kigali, a short route of 115.8 km, but with 6 ascents, the last one direct to the finish line after climbing 4.3 km at 8 percent.
