The strange reason why Draymond Green supports the Boston Celtics over the Miami Heat

No team has come back from a playoff series after going 0-3 deficit in NBA history and lyou boston celtics They are looking to do the feat against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Incredibly, the Celtics have the support of one of their rivals in last year’s NBA Finals. Draymond Green, a player for the Golden State Warriors, has a strange reason to support Boston.

In the latest episode of his podcast on Bleacher Report, Green stated that if a team comes back from 0-3 they will never have to hear about when their team lost a 3-1 lead in the 2016 Finals.

“Will they be able to settle the matter? I don’t know, it’s kind of interesting. The first team to come back from an 0-3 deficit, we’d love to see it, right?” Green said. “Maybe that way I shouldn’t hear more about 3-1 if a team recovers from 0-3. You could throw away 3-1, I’m tired of it, it would be a better story for me personally.”

The fateful episode Green refers to is the NBA Finals of the 2015-16 season when the Cleveland Cavaliers of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving came back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Warriors. That year, those from Golden State had signed the best regular season record in NBA history with a mark of 73 wins and nine losses.

The Celtics seek to tie the series at three wins per side

In NBA history, only three teams that have gone 0-3 have managed to tie the series at three wins apiece. After losing the first three games in overwhelming fashion, the Celtics have shown their strength and dominated the Heat in ECF Games 4 and 5.

One of the keys to Boston’s victories has been the three-point shot. The Celtics have shot 40.4 percent of them while shooting 34 of 84 while the defense has forced the Heat to only go 17 of 55 in the last two games.

Also, Jimmy Butler, the star of those directed by Erik Spoelstra, had his worst performance of the ECF in Game 5. The six-time All-Star forward had just 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field with five assists and five rebounds.

Game 6 of the series between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat will be on May 27. at the Kaseya Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Eastern time in the United States.
