The Grand Final of the South Volleyball Cup will begin this Friday with the participation of four teams in both branches at the Nigua and Baní sports centers.
The Nigua roof will serve as the stage for the competitions in the female branch, which brings together the groups of Azua, Independencia, San Juan de la Maguana and San Cristóbal.
The men’s joust, which brings together the sextets from Cabral (Barahona), San Cristóbal, San Juan de la Maguana and Baní, will take place at the sports center of this municipality, head of the Peravia province, starting at seven at night.
Alexis García, president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation, reported that the San Juan and Azua sextets will hold the opening match of the women’s tournament starting at four in the afternoon, prior to the opening ceremony.
The representative of San Juan will also be responsible for staging the opening match in the men’s division against the champions of Cabral, led by the former national team Franklin Segura (“La Roca”). This game is scheduled to start at seven in the evening.
García highlighted the organization and the level of the participating groups, which he urged to compete with gallantry, but above all to play fair.
The president of the Organizing Committee for the Grand Final of the South Cup is Roberto Furcal, while Henry Puello is the technical director.
