A total of 302 athletes from 23 clubs from all over the country will take part in the closing circuit of the IV “Dimitrova Cup 2022” of karate to be held this Sunday in the Pavilion of that discipline of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
In the second circuit of the “Dimitrova Cup 2022” the best karate athletes will see action, who will compete for the top positions in the national youth ranking.
The award-winning athlete María Dimitrova, organizer of the contest, reported that, after the day, the Grand Champions of the different categories will be announced and the two air tickets will be awarded to the same number of athletes who are the most outstanding, courtesy of the airline Arajet, official sponsor.
The “Dimitrova 2022 Cup” of karate has the support of Propagas, Inicia, Edesur, ISM-Industrias San Miguel, Arajet, Batu, Vadisec, World Self Defense Alliance, as well as the COD, Ministry of Sports and the Karate Federation.
The two youth athletes graced with the air tickets will represent the country in the next Central American and Caribbean Karate Championship, Mexico 2023.
Dimitrova also reported that this latest edition of the tournament has added 10 new categories with the aim of including athletes from high-performance teams and serving as preparation for the qualifying events for the Central American and Caribbean Games El Salvador 2023, as well as the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile next year.
He indicated that military athletes preparing for the Military and Police Games will also see action.
In the first leg of the IV Cup, held on September 25, 22 athletes were positioned in the national ranking in their respective categories in the modalities of kata and kumite.
The first circuit awarded points to seven karate fighters in kata (exhibition) and 15 in kumite (fighting).
Everyone will have the opportunity to continue their upward route in the second call, scheduled to take place this Sunday.
