The latter added that the royal family could prohibit the rebroadcast of certain images yet broadcast live. A control is therefore to be expected by the communication team of King Charles III.
An attack on freedom of the press?
Conditions that have been pointed out by journalists. “It must be explained that we do not agree with these restrictions which prevent us from using the images that we receive”, assured Caroline Hick. A point of view shared by Vanessa Burggraf, director of France 24: “The BBC does not want the channels to broadcast the ceremony on social networks, when it is not a commercial event, but a global event. open to the general public”.
On BFMTV, Florentin Collomp, journalist at Figaro, said it was a “non-aggression pact between William, Harry and the press”. The latter would have resented the media, and in particular the tabloids, after the death of their mother Diana. These bans would therefore help to maintain a good relationship between the royal family and the press.
