The Pumas took a big revenge against the Wallabies

The Pumas took their revenge in a big way: in a performance for the books, the Argentine rugby team easily beat Australia at the Bicentennial Stadium in San Juan by 48-17, in a game in which they showed their best side of start to finish. Thus he left behind the failed debut in the Rugby Championship last week, when he had lost to the same Wallabies in Mendoza.

From start to finish, Los Pumas showed near-perfect performance. Michael Cheika’s team was forceful in attack and solid in defense to add a much celebrated victory. Juan Imhoff scored the first try and Emiliano Boffelli did not fail with his feet, so Los Pumas went up 7-0 in just the first minute of play. After five minutes, Thomas Gallo supported and Boffelli hit again, so the score was 14-0 in favor of the Argentine cast in a devastating start.

The Wallabies narrowed the difference at 10, but Jerónimo De la Fuente -and again Boffelli- took the result to 21-10, while Juan Martín González stretched the advantage to reach halftime with a difference of 16 points.

In the second half, a penalty from Boffelli put things 29-10 and he converted again after a new try from Gallo that practically sentenced the victory of the albiceleste team, who took the bonus point. Despite a new discount from Australia, Los Pumas settled the duel with a try from Boffelli, who later failed in the conversion, and with another from Tomás Albornoz to put the convincing final 48 to 17.

In this way, those led by Michael Cheika recovered from the fall of the first day by 41 to 26 and took revenge against the Australian team, while it was Argentina’s greatest win over Australia in history.

In total, both casts met 38 times, with seven victories for Argentina, three draws and 28 losses. Now, the National Team will travel to New Zealand because the Rugby Championship continues with two matches against the All Blacks, on August 28 and September 3.
