The ongoing tension between Turkey and Sweden increased further

Ankara: Turkey has canceled the visit of Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson, a candidate for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

According to foreign media reports, the ongoing tension between Turkey and Sweden is increasing. Ankara canceled a visit to Sweden after the effigy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was hung.

On January 27, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson was scheduled to visit Turkey. Ankara also summoned the Swedish ambassador for hanging the effigy in Sweden on January 12.

Turkey strongly protested Sweden’s move and summoned the ambassador. The Stockholm police refused to withdraw the permission under the pretext of expression.

The Swedish newspaper also launched a competition for satirical sketches of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
