The local industry assures that it contributes to price stability

The Dominican industrial sector assures that despite the high prices of international supplies and freight, it has contributed to the stability of prices in the local market.

The Association of Industries (AIRD) presents the number of Dominican brands in basic lines such as rice, oil, coffee, cocoa, dairy products, meat products and other consumer goods that show the progress of national production and industries.

Testimonies of Celso Juan Marranzini, Circe Almanzar, Ligia Bonetti, Celso Marranzini are collected. Ito Bisonó, Limbert Cruz, in the edition of “Hecho en RD”, soon to be released and which is a guide to consuming quality local production.

A large number of brands of Dominican products in oils and fats, including margarines, dairy products, sausages and meats, pasta, flour and cookies, bread, grains, rice, canned goods, sugar, chicken, non-alcoholic beverages (water, juice, malts , refreshments); Condiments are just a sample of the great supply of consumer goods manufactured in the country.

Celso Juan Marranzini, president of the AIRD, points out that the take-off of the industrial sector is taking place despite the high international prices of “commodities” and air and sea freight, a circumstance in which the industries have contributed enormously in maintaining the price stability in the country.

He assures that “the car of industrialization is on the move”. This advance helps to overcome the high prices of imports.

For Circe Almánzar, executive vice president of the AIRD, the universe of brands and companies whose products contribute to the basket of Dominicans (food and beverages that strengthen the country’s culinary traditions and enjoyment at various times in life) is broad, very large.

However, those that are present constitute a significant sample of what our national industry contributes to the day-to-day life of the Dominican table. Rice, Sugar, Grains and Canned Food, Meats and Sausages, Bread and Crackers, Oils and Fats, Pasta, Beverages (juices, water, soft drinks), Dairy products, Condiments (tomato sauce, soup, salt, seasonings, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, etc), Coffee and Chocolate, Flour… are some of the categories in which these industries produce and develop their brands, emblems of the sustainable development of the nation…..

Poultry industry

The Dominican poultry industry is an example of development within the country’s agriculture and the figures demonstrate this, since the economic value of poultry production is approximately US$800 million, this means that the industry contributes around 35% of the agricultural GDP and of 50% of the livestock GDP, says the AIRD in “Hecho en RD”.

Likewise, the chicken industry produces about 17 million units per month and generates a value of US$ 600 million. This economic activity also generates a great social impact, since it contributes more than 20,000 direct jobs to the country and around 90,000 in total, jobs distributed throughout the national geography.

It indicates that the Dominican poultry production is present in 25 of the 31 provinces of the country, in addition, the industry has 11 chicken processing plants with high levels of automation and state-of-the-art technology. Thanks to this thriving industry, the country produces all the chicken that is consumed, which means that we are self-sufficient, and there is installed capacity to double production. The poultry industry is an innovative, resilient and supportive industry whose model should be promoted to other national agricultural sectors and whose value should be protected.
