The first course of the LIV, the circuit built on the basis of Saudi petrodollars that has caused a schism in the world of golf, will conclude the last weekend of October at the Donal Trump macro-resort in Doral, Florida, and this Thursday to know the format that this last appointment will have. The main holder, in a battle with the PGA that has been measured above all in economic terms, is in the prize pool. 50 million dollars (about 51 euros) will be distributed. As for the game, it will be by teams, with a mix of formats stroke play (the one of the majority of tournaments, with respect to the pair of the course) and match play (one point per hole won to the rival, half for tying it).

The Jeddah tournament (14-16 this month) will finish deciding the seeding order among the 12 teams. On the 28th the quarterfinals will be played, from which the first four teams will be exempt. Of those who have to play, those with the best ranking will choose a rival. The 32 players (each team has four) will go out at the same time, in format shotgun, as has been done in the rest of the tour events. Each crossing will consist of three matches, two singles and one foursome (two pairs, each one plays a ball with the members alternating to hit it). There will be no ties, it will be played until there is a winner.

The 29th will be the semifinals, with the four exempt teams from the first day choosing their rival and the same match schedule. On the 30th, the grand finale, in which the best four will participate. The 16 players will be distributed in matches of two and everyone’s cards will count towards the final score of their sets, in stroke play.

The winner will take 16 million, to be distributed among his four golfers. The second will win 10 and the third, eight. Those who are eliminated in quarters will take the smallest portion of the cake, which will amount to one million (25,000 per capita) not insignificant. After the first seven tournaments on the calendar, the team ranking is led by the 4 Aces of Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch and Pat Perez, favorites to win the first edition of a circuit that seems to be here to stay.
