The Lioness player Sofía Maccari, who suffered the theft of the silver medal she won at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics shortly after returning from Japantoday received a replica of the medal after a management of the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) before the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“It is a very important moment for me because it represents the culmination of all the work done and it is the reward for effortto the dedication and sacrifice of many years to achieve a goal like this medal”, explained the field hockey player, a member of the squad that won second place in Tokyo 2020 and who had also been part of Las Leonas in the conquest of the silver medal in London 2012.
“With all my heart I thank the people of the COA, those who helped on social networks, my teammates, all contributed so that there was a huge mobilization and it could be recovered. Thanks to the IOC for giving me back this medal that I love so much,” Maccari commented through the COA networks.
Maccari, 38, suffered the theft of his car in Escobar in the first days of September 2021 a few days after returning from the Games and among the belongings he had was the Olympic medal.
