The IndyCar It already has an official calendar for next year. The 2023 season will consist of 17 races, of which seven will be on traditional circuits, five on urban tracks and another five on ovals. will start on March 5th in St. Petersburg (for the thirteenth time) and will end on September, 10th in Laguna Seca. The mythical test of the Indy500 will be held on May 28.

“IndyCar is booming, making progress at a pace that fits our fast-paced style of racing. 2023 will provide an opportunity to continue this trend, bringing our sport and its stars to more markets and homes, as well as more consumers around the world.” says Mark Miles, CEO of Penske.

The biggest novelty of the calendar is in Detroit. The capital of the state of Michigan was already hosting an IndyCar event, but this time the drivers will change the stage: instead of being housed in the traditional Belle Isle Park, the appointment in what is known as ‘Motor City’ will tour the center of the metropolis.

IndyCar president Jay Frye claims that “We have worked hard to achieve equality of dates and venues, which has always been a goal. We’re excited to be back in downtown Detroit, and we’re also excited to head to the resurfaced Road America and Laguna Seca tracks, which will add new challenges for the drivers and teams.”
