An exotic victory to inaugurate the record and definitely a great week for Burgos BH. After announcing that the team will take the start in the next Fleche Wallonne, one of the great classics, in the other part of the globe Miguel Ángel Fernández reaped the first victory for the Burgos squad in this 2023 in the fifth stage of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo, the race that takes place in Gabon.

The day had attacks from the beginning with Soupe, Arefayne, Guérin, Perry, Sanogo and Mayer in the break, although the work of Burgos put down this first break. A breakaway of fourteen with the Spanish Iñaki Angulo although it was neutralized just 20 kilometers later and shortly after another attempt by another fourteen riders with Cyril Barthe, also from Burgos BH, came to have a lead of 1:35 before being neutralized ten kilometers from the finish line.

In this way the stage was decided in a final stage in which Miguel Ángel Fernández attacked to take several meters ahead before the Angodjé finish line and achieve his first victory as a professional at 25 years of age and the first for Burgos-BH in 2023 ahead of veteran Geoffrey Soupe, while overall Frenchman Jason Tesson maintains the lead ahead of Soupe himself. Other illustrious members of the Burgos team are also in Rwanda such as Ángel Madrazo, affected by a crash the first few days, and who are fighting to get Barthe on the podium. He has it two seconds two days from finishing. Now, with more peace of mind about opening a locker that in recent years took them longer, the team is confident of continuing to add success.
