Germán Chavés achieved victories and important places. He was third in the youth classification in the 2014 Vuelta a Colombia; third in the youth classification in the Tour de San Luis in Argentina, in 2015; runner-up in the Under-23 category of the time trial in the 2017 Route Nationals, and that same year he won the first stage of the Tour of Youth that ended in Riosucio. He had recently finished third in the Vuelta a Boyacá.
