The Dominican Republic will be the epicenter of beach volleyball in the first ten days of June, when it holds two major qualifying tournaments that will take place on the Corales coast, Punta Cana.
The Norceca U-23 Qualifying Tournament will be held from first to fifth with the participation of 12 female and 14 male pairings from Mexico, Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobado, El Salvador, Guatemala and Costa Rica, among others, as well like the Quisqueyan hosts.
Mr. Amós Anglada, Technical Vice President of the Dominican Volleyball Federation and director of the sand volleyball program, explained that it is a new circuit created by Norceca to serve as a stage for the classification of teams for the Pan American and World Junior tournaments so as not to have to make use of senior ranks.
He stressed that this event will leave the sand hot for the Senior Beach World Cup that will be held there for the second consecutive year, this time from six to nine.
“So we will have two important consecutive events at Corales beach. We are going to have volleyball from the 1st to the 9th of June”, Anglada emphasized.
Last year the Dominican couple made up of Jubilet Payano and Jineiry Rosario obtained the ticket for the World Cup in Rome, Italy, which was held from June 7 to 20.
Payano will have as a partner on this occasion Bethania Almánzar, with whom he will try to reach the qualifying place for the XIV Beach Volleyball World Championship, which will take place in Tlaxcala (Mexico) between October 6 and 15 of this year under the organization of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the Mexican Volleyball Federation.
The same will be sought by the male duo made up of Oscar Martínez and Hagerling de Jesús, who have been training for several months with this objective.
