- Shehbaz Sharif’s beloved Hamza’s chair snatched away
- Supreme Court removes Hamza Sharif
- Made him the new Chief Minister of Punjab
Pakistan News: Pakistan’s PM Shahbaz Sharif has got another setback from the Supreme Court there. Adil Hamza, the beloved son of the PM, has been removed from the post of Chief Minister of Punjab by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The Supreme Court has replaced Hamza as the head of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Pervez Elahi. For Shahbaz Sharif, it is not only the matter of shock that his son has been removed from the post of CM, but the biggest problem is that the one who has been brought in place of Adil Hamza is an ally of former Pakistan PM Imran Khan. He is the leader of PML-Q.
what was the dispute
In fact, on Friday, on the instructions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the process of voting was held in the 368-member assembly of Punjab province there. There were two main contenders, first Hamza Sharif and second Parvez Elahi. Hamza got 179 votes and Pervez Elahi got 186 votes in the election. But Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Dost Mohammad Majri, showing his friendship with Shehbaz Sharif, declared Parvez Elahi’s 10 votes invalid and thus Hamza Sharif became the head of Punjab province despite getting less votes.
That’s why 10 votes of PML-Q were not counted
PML-Q is an affiliate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. In Punjab’s 368-member assembly, Hamza’s party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz got 179 votes, while Elahi’s party got 176 votes. Elahi’s PML-Q’s 10 votes were not counted on the grounds that she had violated the orders of her party chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. Mazari said party chief Hussain had instructed PML-Q members to vote for Hamza instead of Elahi.
Mazari said that I gave the decision to reject 10 votes of PML-Q because its chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had written a letter to me saying that the MLAs of his party should not have voted for the PML-Q candidate. I spoke to Shujaat over phone and he confirmed that it was mentioned in his letter. He said Hamza regained the chief minister’s post of Punjab province by three votes.
