The Women’s Volleyball Team of the Dominican Republic got off to a good start this Saturday in the World Championship after beating Korea three sets to zero (25-19, 25-12 and 25-15), in a match corresponding to Pool B.

The Dominican Republic will rest until next Tuesday when it will face Croatia at 11:30 in the morning, Dominican time, the city ofGdańsk inPoland.

The Dominicans’ offensive attack was led by Gaila González with 17 points, followed by Yonkaira Peña with 11, Brayelin Martínez contributed nine and Jineirys Martínez with nine.

Middle blocker Geraldine González had a magnificent match with several effective blocks and attacks. The same as the veteran Brenda Castillo, who was almost perfect lifting and accommodating balls to her teammates.

For Korea, Lee Seonwood with nine points and Park Jeongah with seven shone in the losing cause.

The Creole team had 42 percent in attack, while Korea, 32 percent.

The blocking box was 13 to 4 in favor of the Caribeñas. Service ended seven to fourth.

Despite the great defense presented by the Koreans, the Dominican attackers began from the very first set to implement their offensive game rhythm with strong shots from Gaila González, Yonkaira Peña and Brayelin Martinez.

A key aspect where the winners shone was in the blocking during the three sets that put their opponents on full defense.

Once again, Gaila González’s strong and jumpy serve hurt the Koreans, as did Niverka Marte’s floated serves, who had a great performance putting her teammates to attack effectively.

Jineirys Martínez made his contributions, both offensively and defensively with spectacular blocks.
