The Braves crush the Mets with the offense of Acuña, Contreras and Rosario

William Contreras and Eddie Rosario hit back-to-back homers off Carlos Carrasco in the second inning, Ronald Acuña Jr. doubled three times and drove in three and the Atlanta Braves swept the New York Mets 13-1 on Monday for their seventh win in row.

The Braves trailed New York 4 1/2 games for second place in the NL East.

Carrasco (13-5) gave up three runs over two innings, in a start interrupted by a 55-minute rainout in the second inning. The Venezuelan returned after the break to complete the inning, but he winced on his last pitch and was removed due to discomfort in the left side.

Atlanta starter Spencer Strider (7-4) also returned from the rain and retired 10 of the last 12 players he faced. The right-hander, a rookie, struck out four and allowed three hits and one run in five innings.

For the Mets, the Dominican Starling Marte 2-0. Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor 3-0. Venezuelan Eduardo Escobar 4-0 with an RBI.

For the Braves, Venezuelan Ronald Acuña 5-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs; William Contreras 4-1 with a run scored and an RBI. Puerto Rican Eddie Rosario 3-1 with one run scored and one produced.
