The baseball association rejects the latest offer from Major League Baseball

La asociación de beisbolistas rechaza última oferta de Grandes Ligas

The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) on Tuesday rejected the competition’s latest offer to end the work stoppage and start the 2022 season on the scheduled schedule, US media reported.

The Major Leagues had extended until this Tuesday the deadline that it imposed to reach an agreement on the new collective agreement.

Otherwise, the competition had warned the players that it could delay the start of the regular phase, scheduled for March 31.

Tuesday’s meeting, on the ninth consecutive day of negotiations between the MLBPA and the Major Leagues in Jupiter (Florida), also concluded without an agreement, according to ESPN and the digital media The Athletic.

"Negotiations are over for the foreseeable future and the parties are expected to leave Florida."The Athletic noted.

Major League Baseball had already delayed the start of preseason exhibition games, scheduled for February 26, until at least March 8.

Conflicting issues include the division of competition revenues, the period in which players may be eligible for salary arbitration and the size of a pre-arbitration bonus pool.

The sides also discuss the minimum wage, luxury tax rates and playoff expansion, among other issues.
