The 2 big Serie A teams looking to sign Lewis Ferguson

Bologna and Scotland midfielder Lewis Ferguson is being targeted by two Serie A giants: Juventus and Napoli. At just 24 years old, Ferguson caught the attention of these clubs after his outstanding season in Bologna, where he demonstrated his ability in both playmaking and goal scoring.

Ferguson was trained in Hamilton Academical’s youth team and made the leap into Italian football in 2018 when he signed for Aberdeen. After four years in Scotland, Ferguson moved to Bologna for €2 million and established himself as a key player in the Italian team’s midfield.

Napoli and Juventus want to sign Lewis Ferguson in the summer

With seven goals in his first season in Serie A and continued performances this season, Ferguson has contributed six goals and five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions. His influence on Bologna has been crucial, particularly in the fight for a place in the Champions League, where the team sits fourth in the table.

Despite a recent defeat against Inter Milan, Ferguson has shown his leadership by wearing the captain’s armband on several occasions this season. His versatility in midfield, both offensively and defensively, has made him a sought-after target for clubs such as Juventus and Napoli.

With ten caps for Scotland, Ferguson is also in coach Steve Clarke’s sights for Euro 2024. His potential does not go unnoticed, and his inclusion in the squad for the upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland is a clear indication of his relevance in the Euros international arena.

Although Ferguson has a contract at Bologna until 2027 with the option of a further year, pressure to sell him is increasing with interest from clubs such as Juventus and Napoli. Although a final offer has not yet been made, the summer is likely to be crucial for the young midfielder’s future with his former club Aberdeen also awaiting a transfer due to a sell-on clause.
