Alicante will become, from July 13 to 16 thanks to the tabarcain one of the great points of interest of Spanish sailing. The 27th edition of this great Mediterranean regatta will debut a new image, with the aim of taking a leap in quality and adapting to changing times. This edition will incorporate the Dragon class and will open the J80 to the absolute. The Tabarca Vela, being halfway between the Trofeo SM la Reina de Valencia and the Copa del Rey Mapfre de Palma, is presented as the Perfect regatta and preparation for the crews and set-up and preview of the Cup.
In addition to the traditional ORC cruising classes 0-1-2-3-4-5, the J80 class (in the last edition it was exclusively female as it was part of the Iberdrola circuit) this year it will be absolute; while all five RCRA City & Beach J22 class units will be for female crews. The incorporation of the Dragon classwhich has a very important international fleet in the Mediterranean, will provide a different added value compared to the rest of the summer regattas.
Of course, the activity in Alicante will not only be in the water. The Real Club de Regatas de Alicante is growing at all levels, and that is why interactivity between the participants, sponsors and fans will be sought with the celebration of different daily acts and events in which the sailors will be the main protagonists. All this is because Tabarca Vela has a new management, the sailor Núria Sánchez Nomdedeu, and explained that “Tabarca’s potential is enormous. From the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante we are growing and advancing a lot both sportingly and socially and this regatta has to be the great reference of this historic and centenary club”. Sánchez was convinced that “in this edition we will grow in terms of classes and categories, also seeking the maximum inclusion of female sailors. We are very excited and we promise many surprises”.
