T20 League: Rajasthan Royals-owned Paarl Royals announced on Sunday the appointment of veteran South African batsman David Miller as captain for the first season of the new T20 SA20 league organized by Cricket South Africa (CSA). This league will start in January next year. Most of the teams in this league will be owned by the IPL franchise itself.
Gujarat had won the title
Miller had a stellar performance in the IPL 2022 season and helped the Gujarat Titans win the title by scoring 481 runs in 16 matches with a 142.73 first down shooting rate. Let’s just say that thanks to Miller’s strong play, the Gujarat team won the IPL trophy in their first season. At IPL 2022, this team was commanded by Hardik Pandya. On the other hand, Miller, who led South Africa to a 2-1 victory in the three-game T20 series against England under his captaincy in August, is now ready for a new challenge.
Captain of the Barbados Royals
Miller currently captains the Barbados Royals in the current season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Miller has been one of the best finishers in the game and is clearly excited to lead the Royals at home. The Paarl-based franchise has given the role of captain to Miller, 33, who was one of two South African players signed by the team before the auction.

Miller said of his appointment: “I am very proud to be named captain of the Paarl Royals. It is a great pleasure for me. The people of Paarl and the Western Cape as a whole are great supporters of quality and recreational cricket. And my ambition will be to lead the team in the right way and give my fans countless memories to make their team happy.” Head coach JP Duminy, a former teammate of South African Miller, expressed his happiness at being captain of the Royals.
“David is one of the best players you are going to meet, and knowing the conditions is something that will be very valuable for us,” he added.
