Sweden cannot against Oblak’s Slovenia and descends to the hell of the Nations League. The tie at one, with great goals from Sesko and Forsberg, is a new stumbling block for the Swedes who live submerged in a great football crisis and that leaves Andersson on the verge of dismissal. Without a World Cup and second consecutive relegation in the new UEFA tournament, staying in the inconsequential League C.

2022 has become a cursed year for Sweden. It did not surpass the victory of Spain last November, which qualified La Roja for Qatar and sent the Swedes to the playoffs. Since then, Andersson’s have gone from failure to failure. Poland came back from the tie in the tie and left them out of the World Cup; but the League of Nations has given the national team the finishing touch.

Only one victory in six games condemns him to go down to the hell of the Nations League. They descend to League C, a category in which countries like the Faroe Islands, Luxembourg, Kosovo, Azerbaijan or Bulgaria roam. Something that presumably falls short for a team that became runner-up in the world and that currently has Isak among its ranks, one of the most expensive transfers this summer (€70M). Although they have not been able to count on him in the two games of this break due to injury.

The Sweden-Slovenia was a ‘final’ for permanence and it was shown on the field. The locals knew they were in trouble and came out with everything. Claesson almost opened the scoring within seconds of the opening whistle. The Swedes were plugged in trying to go up and with an Olsen who showed off deflecting Slovenia’s attacks. But the blow came in minute 28, when Stojanovic put a long ball inside the area and Sesko, first, crossed the ball to the far post to sneak the ball through the top corner. The Swedish goalkeeper had to quickly recover from the great goal conceded and avoid the 0-2 score after a few minutes. The goalkeeper recovered and so did Andersson’s team, who managed to go into the break with a draw. Forsberg got it, who shot for leadership, drove the ball down the rival field and, after overcoming four Slovenians, adjusted a low shot to the bottom of Oblak’s goal.

Sweden showed a good game. He did it as soon as the second half started, when Forsberg, Lindelof – heeled – and Kulusevski combined inside the Slovenian area. Only Oblak’s glove was able to stop them. But, despite their efforts, it was impossible to come back and they are condemned to wander around League C.
