The India-Australia ODI series has not gone well for Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav came away with a golden duck in all three matches of the current ODI series against Australia. This means that he came off on the first ball of three consecutive ODIs and returned to the arena. Suryakumar Yadav is the number one batsman in T20 and has scored many runs in T20 matches over the past year. However, Suryakumar has not done anything special in the ODI format so far. The Indian team is preparing for the ODI World Cup and hence captain Rohit Sharma is testing Suryakumar Yadav in the middle order.
Due to Shreyas Iyer’s injury, Surya got a chance to play in all three consecutive matches, but the T20 number one batsman couldn’t even open his tally. For Surya, this is a hat-trick of golden ducks in his career, which you don’t see often. The first ODI match between India and Australia was played in Mumbai where Surya was sent off lbw by Mitchell Starc on an inside ball. After that, the second match between India and Australia was played in Visakhapatnam and in that match too, Mitchell Starc took out Surya LBW on the first ball in a similar fashion.
After that the third match was played in Chennai and in this match Australian all rounder Aston Agar bowled Surya on the first ball of his spin ball. In this way Surya made a golden duck hat-trick. However, many Indian batsmen have scored a hat-trick of ducks in ODIs even before Surya. The biggest name on this list is Sachin Tendulkar, who in 1994 was dismissed for nil in three consecutive ODIs. After that, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah also pulled off a hat-trick by coming off at nil in ODIs.
