To celebrate the Dakar 2022 victory in style, Sam Sunderland presented the trophy at the headquarters to Stefan Pierer (CEO of PIERER Mobility AG), before driving the Dakar-winning motorcycle through several of the facilities for the enjoyment of all employees.
“It is incredible to celebrate my victory in the Dakar with all the people of GAS GASI will remember this day forever. It’s really been a team effort, with so many people at the factory in Austria fully supporting the rally team, so it’s amazing to share this special result with all of them. This Dakar victory is much better than the first. It is my first victory in a rally with GAS GAS and things could not have gone better. The bike has worked perfectly from the start, which has made things a lot easier, as this year’s race was one of the toughest I’ve ever done,” said the rider at the team headquarters.
Stefan Pierer, for its part, celebrated the return of the touareg to the factory, the 19th, after two years of dominance by Honda, while Pit Beirer, competition director, praised the work of the entire GAS GAS team: “We are very proud of all the work that the entire GAS GAS team has done to achieve its first victory in the Dakar; it is a historic achievement and we hope that it is only the first success of what will be a successful year for the brand.
