Dominican Albert Pujols continues in pursuit of 700 home runs in his career in Major League Baseball.
Currently two home runs separate him from the historical group, where only three legends of the game belong, Barry Bonds, historical leader (762), Hank Aaron (755) and Babe Ruth (714).
The San Luis team has 14 games left in the regular season and as of this Tuesday begins a three-game series against the San Diego Padres, as visitors at Petco Park.
For tonight’s game, should he be placed in the lineup, Pujols will face pitcher Mike Clevinger, who has dominated Pujols in their particular matchup.
In 14 at-bats, the Dominican has only connected with one hit and has struck out three times.
Clevinger allowed six earned runs, three home runs in five complete innings, against the Seattle Mariners in his last game, where he took the loss.
After his 698th home run last Friday in a victory for the Cardinals, the Dominican went 0-for-8 in the next three games against the Cincinnati Reds.
Pujols is batting .265 with 19 homers in 94 games, in what will be his last season in the Major Leagues, and in which he remains on the lookout.
