Hello Fevers. Week to forget after the visit of Hurricane Fiona. Many unfortunate floods especially in the eastern part of the country. Provinces such as La Romana, Higüey, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, the area of Punta Cana and Verón, and Samaná were among the most affected, and its impact left a trail of physical damage and unquantifiable losses.

Obviously the golf courses were affected causing some to even have to close in the short or long term. I was encouraged to contact some of the superintendents, directors, and even public relations departments, to tell me about their respective statuses, and this is what they told me:

Subway and Guavaberry. Both with little impact, although many trees fell, but there were no major consequences. After the respective cleaning of both fields, they will open today or tomorrow. The Estancia. Lots of damage especially in the clubhouse area which was hit hard. The lagoons are battered, but they hope to open on Friday.

Cottage. Although the winds felt very strong in La Romana, the resort’s courses had no major problems. A debris cleanup operation was done yesterday and today, and Dye Fore and Teeth Of the Dog open today. Links will have to wait a few more days to return, but nothing happened to majors.

The Cana and Corals. La Cana had no major consequences, work is being done to clean it up. and will open as soon as possible. Corales will be closed for a little longer, as they will take the opportunity to do maintenance and some improvements on the way to the 2023 edition of the Corales Puntacana Championship, which will take place in March.

Cocotal. One of the most affected, mainly due to the number of trees in the layout. It could take a week or two for it to reopen.

The Lakes. They still have problems with lagoons, which is their main characteristic, as well as with many fallen trees. They hope to open in the next few days.

White tip. Trees on the ground, but without major consequences. A lot of water accumulated, and they also hope to open in a day or two.

Iberostar. It was one of the least affected, and today they reopened operations.

hard-rock. Neither with serious consequences and before Friday they will open, but only 9 holes, because like Corales, they will take the opportunity to do maintenance work. The common factor in all of them is that the sand traps were very affected, which is very normal when this type of phenomenon occurs. Hopefully they can be ready as soon as possible, so that tourism doesn’t stop and is greatly affected.

BM Cargo Tournament. As you may know, the tournament was postponed more than anything because, apart from the fact that the brand does not correctly understand the celebration of an event that includes parties and fun with the current prevailing emergency conditions, the assembly was also very complicated, being an event so great. Sensible decision on the part of the senior staff of the company that we celebrate and support. The new date will be announced later.
