Estrellas tienen elevadas expectativas con Manny García

The Stars have high expectations with Manny Garcia as their general manager, said the club’s president, engineer Miguel Feris.

“We have high expectations for the kind of work he can do. We trust in his ability, his dedication, his work discipline and something very important: his good relations with the players and other coaches; as well as in organized baseball,” Feris said, through a press release from the Stars.

“Manny has very good relations with the manager Fernando Tatis and with the players of the Stars. That’s very important for the kind of work we expect him to do on our team,” Feris said.

“We were the first team to give him a chance as a coach in the Dominican League; And we think he’s earned an opportunity as our top office man as well, as the head of everything related to baseball operations,” Feris noted.

García was announced a few days ago as general manager of the Stars, after three consecutive seasons, including the most recent, as pitching coach of the Águilas Cibaeñas, a position he held for two seasons with the Stars (2018-2019 and 2019-2020 ).

In his two seasons as pitching coach for the All-Stars, Garcia worked alongside the club’s current manager, Fernando Tatis, who was the manager then as well.

In the 2017-2018 season, his first with the Stars, Garcia was bullpen coach and Tatis was bench coach.

“Tatis and I have a very good relationship. I also have it with Joselito (José Mallén Calac)”, García observed.

Mallén Calac was the general manager who first hired García to the Stars, first as bullpen coach and later as pitching coach. Currently, the young executive of the Stars is the vice president of the club.

It was under the leadership mainly of Mallén Calac (general manager), Tatis (manager) and García (picheo coach) that the Stars won their first national championship in 51 years, in the 2018-2019 season.

“There is good chemistry between the three of them,” acknowledged Feris, the club’s vice president in the winning 2018-2019 season, in which the president of the Stars was Lic. José Manuel Mallén Santos, current delegate of the acting board of directors club administration.

“The entire off-field team is back together now that we’ve hired Manny Garcia. All the work team that helped us win that championship”, observed Feris. “Let’s charge again.”

work of last years

“We believe that in the years following winning the championship, our outside team also did a good job, as well as our manager and coaches,” said the president of the Stars.

“For something we have three consecutive seasons going to the playoffs, with visits to the Final Series in the last two seasons,” Feris pointed out.

“I think we’ve made good draft picks, as evidenced by the fact that the Rookie of the Year winners for the past four seasons have been All-Star players,” he said. “We lacked a little push to reach the goal, to win the championship. I think that now, all together again, we will manage to get there, in the next season”.
