Calm before (and after) the storm. After yesterday’s eventful day, and in the absence of those to come in the coming days, the Giro d’Italia experienced a very quiet 17th stage, in which the sprinter teams controlled the race to guarantee a volata. In it, the Italian Alberto Dainese was the fastest to get his first victory in this Giro. Geraint Thomas retained the overall lead without issue.
