Stage 14 of the Giro d’Italia was marked by rain, like the rest of the days. Soon a break of 29 runners was created that began to gain distance until reaching 19 minutes. Intermediate attempts to reach her that were in vain. With a few kilometers left to go, four men from this escape jumped alone: Ballerini, Rex, Oldani and Skujins. However, they could not hold it until the final sprint, and with just 500 meters to go to cross the finish line they were caught by the chasing group, giving Nico Denz the second victory of the edition. The new leader of the race, the result of that long and spoiled escape, is the Frenchman from Groupama-FDJ Bruno Armirail.
