Spanish businessman Pepe Hidalgo affirms that the recovery of Dominican tourism “is a fact”

The Spanish businessman, owner of the Globalia Group and Air Europa, Juan José -Pepe- Hidalgo, affirmed that the recovery of Dominican tourism is a fact.

“We are already launched and it has been conceived to celebrate FITUR, which is the initial vehicle, promoter of returning to what we were. And come on, this year we will have acceptable figures, not the one we had before, but acceptable figures”, explained the Spanish businessman to Listín Diario while he was at the inauguration of the 42nd edition of FITUR 2022 at the IFEMA fairgrounds .

Hidalgo said that at the tourism fair it has a stand where there is all the information related to the four projects of 2,000 aparthotels in what is immersed in the Dominican Republic.

“They are apartments linked to the hotel,” said Hidalgo, who quantified these investments at more than US$2,000 million.

He highlighted the way in which the Dominican Government has dealt with the pandemic.

Previously, in an interview for CDN, the Spanish businessman expressed his great confidence in the Caribbean country and its economy, especially in the conditions for doing business.

For Hidalgo, the Dominican Republic is a country that faces difficulties and this type of progress, work and effort gives people confidence, which is observed in an increase in hotel occupancy and in a good frequency of entry and exit of airline flights, as is the case with your company (Air Europa), which goes daily to Santo Domingo and two days a week -now in winter- to Punta Cana.

“The planes are full. I think that openness and the way in which the government has treated this pandemic is very important,” the businessman explained to CDN.

FITUR 2022 is attended by the hotel chains represented in the Dominican Republic, the commercial banks and has the active participation of the Dominican President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, who received the King and Queen of Spain, His Majesty Felipe VI and the Queen Leticia.
