Athletes Compete in World Athletics Continental Category
In the recent Luxembourg International Rally, a continental category World Athletics event, Spanish athletes made a significant impact, with Adrian Ben taking home the top spot in the 1,000 meters and Águeda Marquis and Belén Toimil also impressing in their respective events.
Adrian Ben Wins 1,000 Meters
Ben, a specialist in the 800 meters, decided to "move up" in distance to run the 1,000 meters and came out on top with a time of 2:17.31, beating Irishman Luke McCann by more than a second.
Águeda Marquis Finishes Eighth in 800 Meters
Marquis, who will compete in the Paris Olympics, ran the 800 meters in Luxembourg, winning the B final but finishing eighth in the general ranking with a time of 2:02.47.
Belén Toimil Takes Fourth in Weight Throw
Toimil had a strong showing in the weight throw, finishing fourth with a mark of 17.69 meters in her only valid launch from six attempts. Although she fell short of the victory claimed by Portuguese Eliana Flag with a mark of 18.16, her performance was still impressive.
