Duleep Trophy 2022: Following Ravi Teja’s undefeated century, South Zone defeated North Zone by a wide margin of 645 runs in the semi-finals of the Duleep Trophy cricket tournament on Sunday. Chasing a big target of 740 runs for the South Zone, the North Zone team Tanya Thiagarajan (3 of 12), R Sai Kishore (3 of 28) and Krishnappa Gowtham (3 of 50) all launched sharply. The front was reduced to 94 runs in just 30.4 packs.
What was the condition of the match?
We told you that in this second semifinal, the North Zone team lost the last nine wickets by just 30 runs. For them, only starters Yash Dhul (59) and Manan Vohra (11) could reach double figures. South Zone declared the second inning at 316 for four. Ravi Teja posted an unbeaten 104 in 120 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes. Starting pitchers Rohan Kunnumul (77) and Mayank Agarwal (64) also scored important half centuries. On the other hand, in the first semifinal, Ajinkya Rahane’s West Zone team beat Central Zone by 279 runs.
If we talk about today’s game, then the South Zone team came out to play 157 runs for a wicket in the second inning. Agarwal took 53 while Ravi Teja led his innings by 19 runs. Agarwal was the first batsman to be sacked, who was brought down by Mayank Dagar after scoring 11 runs in his touchdown yesterday. Then Ravi Teja along with Ricky Bhui (21 not out) took the team score past 300 runs and also completed their century after which captain Hanuma Vihari declared the innings. Pursuing the goal, the Northern Zone team lost wickets at regular intervals and aside from the youngster Yash Dhul, none of their batsmen were able to spend enough time in the crease. In the finals, South Zone will now face West Zone led by Ajinkya Rahane from September 21-25.
