Daz Cameron put the Tigers ahead with a two-run homer in the eighth inning and Detroit held on to beat the Minnesota Twins 3-2 on Thursday.

Cameron’s 416-foot drive to left-center off Emilio Pagán (1-2) drove in the run of Eric Haase, who singled with one out for the Tigers.

Alex Lange (3-1) allowed two walks and struck out one in the crucial eighth inning and left-hander Gregory Soto closed out his 10th save.

Minnesota, the leader of the American League Central Division and the only team in the division with a winning record, has lost seven of its last 10 games.

Meanwhile, the fourth-place Tigers have won seven of their last nine games to make up some ground after a poor start to the season.

Jonathan Schoop had a lot to do with the changeup, hitting an RBI single in the first inning of the last game of the series. He has driven in seven of Detroit’s 10 runs in just over two games.

For the Tigres, the Venezuelans Harold Castro 3-1, and Miguel Cabrera 3-0. Puerto Rican Willi Castro 3-0 with a run scored.

For the Twins, Colombian Gio Urshela 4-1 with an RBI. Venezuelans Luis Arraez 5-0, and Jermaine Palacios 3-1. Dominicans Gary Sánchez and Jorge Polanco, both 3-0.
