For almost six hours the sellers of the sosua beach walked from their municipality to the provincial government to deliver the document with their claims that they are built three places on the beach of Sosúa, the Cangrejos bridge and the Sosúa hospital. Jose Manuel Gonzalez,
Lilo, a spokesperson for the vendors speaking with Andrés Batista, president of the entity, and other members, indicated that they marched peacefully and delivered a document to the provincial Tourism office and another to the Governor’s Office demanding vital works for Sosúa.
Among the works mentioned is the reconstruction of the crab bridgewhich has been facing difficulties since April and whose replacement was announced in September, and the construction of the Sosúa hospital, a claim for more than 30 years in that community.
In the governor’s office, a commission of the entity was received by the assistant governor Claritza Rochtte, Danna Ydalina Taveras, along with Ariel Heredia, director of communications for the same, and other officials.
The Plaza, reason for discord
The driving force of this claim is the construction of a plaza for vendors announced on June 25 of this year in an act headed by President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, with an investment of 615 million for a plan of cleaning up and demolition of Sosúa.
José Manuel González assured that they had agreed to build 3 plazasone in the southern part in Los Charamicos, one of 75 meters in front of the beach and one of 150 meters on the north side, the side of El Batey and that currently only one on the south side is being built with just 35 meters towards the beach, with which it seeks to completely remove them from the spa area, which is what they have fought for all along.
They demanded the stoppage of work on the current plaza and the construction of the three agreed plazas.
