Sony continues to reveal information about the PlayStation VR 2, or PS VR2 as the company calls it.

Sony Japan has confirmed that the helmet won’t be ready in time for a 2022 release, but it will targets a launch in early 2023probably in the first or beginning of the second trimester.

Sony has shared a short video of the PlayStation VR 2 with its fans around the world. The two-minute video published on YouTube analyzes some of the device’s most striking features.

 

Specifically, Sony advertises that the device has a “4K HDR display”, although the fine print qualifies it confirming that each eye will display 2000 x 2040 pixels. HDR support is made possible by OLED screens.

Additionally, PlayStation VR 2 will include advanced haptics, eye tracking and foveated rendering, although only in games that support this feature. Additionally, the helmet will offer a 110-degree field of view (FoV), in-helmet haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and Audiotech Tempest 3D when connected to stereo headphones.

While Sony has not released further details at this time, CNET has released hands-on videos of the PlayStation VR 2.
