CWI Chairman Ricky Skerritt said on Sunday: “On behalf of Cricket West Indies, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of one of West Indies’ greatest players, Soni Ramdin.

He said: “Ramdin made his impact as soon as he entered the world of cricket. Many stories are told of his stupendous achievements during the 1950 tour when he teamed up with Elf Valentine to form the ‘spin twin’ cricket pair which helped the West Indies to beat England on their soil for the first time.

Ramdin took 11 for 152 in a match at Lord’s during the West Indies’ first Test victory in England. West Indies won that 1950 series 3-1.
