Evan and Katelyn, a couple of YouTubers, carried out a project to make the biggest laptop in history. How big? A 43-inch laptop.
The monster was named BFL (Big Fun Portable) and it all started with the screen, which is actually an LCD TV. A chassis was built around it, complete with a custom logo and some RGB light strips.
The chassis includes aluminum extrusions with two large hinges. Plywood was chosen for the top and bottom covers, while sheets with a vinyl touch were added to the interior. In addition, it includes three batteries that can provide enough power for a 260W load.
One of the batteries only powers the screen, the second is for a mini PC plus the peripherals connected to it, and the third is for the LED strips. Of course, all of these components needed to be secured with various 3D-printed brackets.
At the heart of the BFL is a NUC 11 mini PC with an Intel i7-1165G7 processor and RTX 2060 dGPU. There’s also a USB hub and a rather large mechanical keyboard.
The total thickness is about 10 centimeters, but the problem is the weight. This monstrous notebook weighs around 45.35 kg.
