As we approach the end of 2022, there are more and more rumors surrounding Qualcomm’s next top processor. However, the American company will also be developing a new SoC for the mid-range market, the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1.
Little is known about this new processor, but the truth is that it will come to further improve the performance offered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. It will do so by improving some internal aspects, as the renowned Roland Quandt has now let us know.
Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 will be even closer to the best Qualcomm processors
the highly respected filter used the social network Twitter to reveal some technical details of the processor with the designation SM7475. Everything indicates that this will be the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1, aimed at the mid/high-end device market.
In fact, Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 will have eight processing cores in a 1+3+4 configuration. That is, we will have three different groups of cores for different tasks, enhancing their performance and energy efficiency.
The first two sets will have to have a frequency of 2.40 Ghz and will be in charge of the most demanding tasks. The other cores will run at 1.80 GHz and will be in charge of the lighter tasks and thus increasing the overall efficiency of this processor.
It is already speculated that Qualcomm will use different cores for the development of the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1. The first one will be based on the Cortex-X3, while the second set will be based on the Cortex-A715.
As with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, TSMC will also develop the new mid-range SoC in 4nm lithography. A change that will allow the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 to maintain its maximum performance for longer and generate less heat.
It will be the union of the new cores with the new TSMC manufacturing process that will allow the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 to be even more powerful than the chip original. All so that mid/high-end smartphones get even closer to the true top of the range.
We do not yet have an indication of when the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 will be officially unveiled. However, there is a possibility that this will happen as early as November on the occasion of the Snapdragon Summit event.
