The Transport Safety Investigation Bureau, which operates under the Ministry of Transport, said the aim of the investigation was to “identify lessons learned to prevent future incidents and casualties” but was not intended to identify responsibilities, according to a statement Singaporean government released yesterday evening. on Wednesday.

This investigation complements the investigation launched by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, which said the day before that the papers of the container ship involved, Dali, were in order and had passed two inspections in June and September 2023.

In any case, the shipping agency said it is working with the U.S. Coast Guard and is reviewing all protocols to determine whether the Dali violated any regulations.

On Wednesday, U.S. authorities located the bodies of two of the six workers working on the bridge who fell into the river after the freighter carrying 56 containers of chemical materials and 23 rescued crew members collided.

The Dali, operated by Singaporean company Synergy Group, collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore in the northeastern United States early on Tuesday morning.

At least eight workers involved in work on the bridge fell into the dark waters of the river, two of whom were rescued alive.

After hours of searching in the cold waters of the river, authorities declared the six missing employees dead, two of whose bodies have already been found.
