Salman Khan’s latest film, Sikandar, didn’t quite live up to expectations on its opening day. Released on March 30, a Sunday, it got caught up in the pre-Eid frenzy. Many of Salman’s fans didn’t make it to theaters due to Ramzan. To make matters worse, the film didn’t get great reviews from critics and audiences. And if that wasn’t enough, it leaked online before its release, affecting its earnings.
Despite these setbacks, Sikandar still managed to rake in 26 crore rupees in net collection domestically and over 41 crore rupees in gross collection worldwide. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, is an action drama with a decent plot. However, the screenplay has its flaws. While it’s not perfect, Sikandar is a family-friendly film that tries to balance action and emotion.
According to Sacnilk, Sikandar made 31.25 crore rupees in gross collection on its first day in India, with 10 crore rupees coming from international markets. This brings its total worldwide gross collection to 41.25 crore rupees.
Trade analyst Komal Nahata believes piracy played a role in the low turnout at theaters. He told ANI that he found out about the leak late on the night before the film’s release and by the time it was taken down from over 600 sites, the damage was done. Nahata estimates that the leak resulted in a 30-40% loss in business.
As for its performance, Sikandar ranks fourth among the top-grossing Indian films of 2025, with Ram Charan’s Game Changer taking the top spot with 51 crore rupees domestically and 80 crore rupees worldwide. Despite this, Sikandar is expected to perform well over the Eid weekend, with many shows already sold out. Its budget is estimated to be around 200 crore rupees, and experts predict it will cross the 150 crore rupee mark by the end of its first weekend.
