The day and night test match is being played between India and Sri Lanka in Bangalore. In this, in the second innings of the India team, the young and talented player Shreyas Iyer scored half a century. With this half century, he made a special record. Iyer has become the fourth batsman to score half a century in the two innings of a day and night Test match. He has also become the first Indian batsman to do so. Before Iyer, Steve Smith, Darren Bravo and Marnus Labuschagne have done this feat.
On the second day of the Bangalore Test, the Indian batsmen came out to play the second innings after Sri Lanka went down to 109 in the first innings. During this Shreyas Iyer came to bat at number 6. He scored half a century playing. With this half century, he made a record. He has become the fourth batsman to score half a century in the two innings of the Day-Night Test. Iyer had scored 92 runs in the first innings. However, he missed the century. He now he too has scored half a century in the second inning.
Before Shreyas Iyer, West Indies batsman Darren Bravo, Australian batsman Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have demonstrated this feat. Bravo scored 87 runs in one inning and 116 runs in the second inning against Pakistan in the 2016 Dubai Test. While Smith scored 130 runs in one inning and 63 runs in the second inning against Pakistan in Brisbane this year. Labushen has done this feat twice. He did it amazingly against New Zealand in 2019 and against England in 2021.
